I bought this gold bullion some years ago when gold hit $600.00 an oz.  A gold ring was added to be worn with a chain.  Although it was worn for a short time, The addition did not take away from the weight of the 999.9 pure gold.  Now I am retired and times are hard.  I need the cash more than I need the "trinket".

This was made at West Point where all the 24k gold Buffalo Coins are made  .. Yes, the most beautiful coin one can see .. I wonder who decided to make a $50.00 24 Karat Coin like this .. Absolutely beautiful .. Agreed? .. Gold other metals are going up .. down a bit and back up .. now hovering around $1200 .  Time to get it and hang on to it .. I must let things go now ..who knows how much more UP it will go .. or maybe not . but a treasure to have .. and a new home for this beautiful coin .. will it be yours? ..  At the moment the Buffalo is selling for a LOT more than it was a week ago . and perhaps will increase tomorrow .. if gold continues up? .. I do not know ..

I believe you can see the photos showing the beautiful bullion coin .. First Strike MS70 .9999 Fine gold .. Number of this one is 15383857.  In my next life will try to be a better photographer . This looks a LOT better in person . but then it is MS70  PCGS First Strike .. they know how to grade . I put up many photos as usual .. If you look at the PCGS site you will see that the number is listed with a price of $1700.00 .. Check that for yourself at the PCGS site ..

American Buffalo 24-Karat Bullion Gold Coins

Production the American Buffalo 24-karat gold coins were authorized by Public Law 109-145, dated December 22, 2005, also known as the Presidential $1 Coin Act.

The American Buffalo Gold coin's obverse and reverse designs feature images originally prepared by noted American sculptor James Earle Fraser, once a student of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, for America's 5-cent coin (nickel).

That popular coin, known as the Indian Head, or Buffalo, nickel was introduced in 1913 and showcases the native beauty of the American West.

The Native American depiction on the coins obverse is believed to be based on three different American Indians.  Two of the American Indians who modeled for Fraser as he sculpted the coin were named by the designer before his death.  They were known as Chief Iron Tail of the Lakota Sioux and Chief Two Moons of the Cheyenne.   Although many have claimed to have had a sitting with Fraser for this design, he could not recall the name of the third person and satisfactory documentation has not yet been found to identify that individual.   It is widely believed that the bison on the coins reverse was modeled after Black Diamond, a popular attraction at the New York Zoological Gardens.

In the first year of the coin issuance, 1913, there were two distinct varieties, the first showing the bison on a mound and the second with the base redesigned to a thinner, straight line.   American Buffalo Gold Coins bear the original Fraser Type I design.
